HAYDN COMMEMORATION CONZERT	Thomas Quasthoff, Christoph Strehl, Annette Dasch	This performance in the beautiful historic concert hall of Schloss Esterhazy in Eisenstadt (Austria) is a tribute to one of the world’s greatest musical genius, Joseph Haydn, on the occasion of his 200th anniversary of death in 1809. The Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra, founded in 1987 by internationally renowned conductor Adam Fischer, consists of musicians from the Wiener Philharmoniker and the main Budapest-based orchestras. As the orchestra is very devoted to the oeuvre of Joseph Haydn, and along with worldfamous soloists like Annette Dasch and Thomas Quasthoff, this event of The Creation represents the media highlight of the Haydn-year 2009.

LUCERNE FESTIVAL 08: “RUSSIAN NIGHT”	with Hélène Grimaud and Claudio Abbado	The Lucerne Festival Orchestra and Claudio Abbado perform a Russian night at Lucerne. Tchaikovsky's symphonie poem The Tempest is based on the famous play by Shakespeare and shares many similarities in musical structure with Tchaikovsky's better known ""Romeo and Juliet"" overture . The famous French-American pianist Hélène Grimaud performed Rachmaninov's widely known Piano Concerto No. 2 which premiered in 1901 and which has not lost any of its fascination to musicians and audiences alike. When 28-year-old Stravinsky was assigned to compose a ballet he wouldn't know that The Firebird would be his ""breakthrough piece"". In 1911 Stravinsky arranged the material for concert performance resulting in a slightly shortened suite and created two additional arrangements in 1919 and 1945. Produced by Euroarts, this film shows one of the major nights of this year's Lucerne Festival with Abbado's handpicked orchestra and one of the most exciting pianists of our time.
